In 2009, uvex created a team of freeriding and freeskiing athletes to develop a brand new product range. Goals and requirements were: creative design, thoughtful product features, a youthful spirit and renewed emotion for the brand. After thorough review and testing, riders, engineers, and product managers established the essential points for park & powder performance. The key points are: an assortment of dependable features, creative product design, and a heavy dose of core style. This team developed products that naturally fit the lifestyle of the whole scene. As part of the creative process, a focused range of test products was developed. Riders sorted through the best products and gave advice for improvements. Another important piece of the development process was cooperation with the influential mags (Skiing, Downdays, Powderguide) to gain a deeper perspective on the scene as well as direct feedback (30+ persons tested prototypes) on the products. After developing the products, the next development process began. Searching for the name of the concept and developing a communication strategy. The whole team wanted to produce a theme that fits the whole community in an authentic, fundamentally true way that generates another perspective of uvex. This is the Core Range.
